Garment Care
Wear and care
Hooray! You own, or are thinking of owning, a custom tinsel garment...
What a great thang!
This garment is custom sewn using coloured tinsel, which as we all know, isn't your most standard outfit material. As such, here are some wear and care tips to ensure that you and your sparkly dream item can live out a long and happy life together.
Introverts beware, this garment can be a conversation starter! In an instance where you don't want to engage with a tinsel-admirer, quietly shimmy away.
As this garment was born to party, it is bound to endure the occasional spill. To remedy a spill on your garment, wipe down the tinsel in a downward direction with a dry cloth. Avoid using a wet cloth as this will make your tinsel stick and will increase the likelihood of a tear. If the garment base itself is stained, spot clean the fabric directly with a damp cloth and stain remover.
To remove a scent induced by 6 hours of non-stop dancing or any other activity that has left your garment with a unique aroma, leave it near an open window or hang in an airy space. For severe cases, spritz the internal of your garment with a fragrance remover OR wrap your jacket in a plastic bag and pop overnight in the freezer (this is a nifty trick for killing bacteria and also applies to denim).
Some tinsel may occasionally wriggle free of a stitch and this is normal. In the case of excessive shedding within the first month of purchase, feel free to email imakeyouwearit@gmail.com to organise a repair.
Avoid wetting the tinsel on your garment.
Never place your tinsel garment it in a washing machine or dryer. This will lead to the item's certain death.
Never dance / vogue / or conduct any other tinsel-wearing-activities near any kind of open flame as this may lead to your certain death. Seriously. Be careful! Tinsel safely.
Happy Wearing!
